Give Your Child the Best Chance at Grammar School

The 11+ is one of the most competitive exams your child will face. With thousands of students sitting the same test for a limited number of places, preparation is not optional, it is essential. At Think Smart Academy in Slough, we have spent over a decade helping children not just pass the 11+ but score highly enough to secure their first-choice grammar school.

Our approach goes beyond drilling past papers. We teach students to understand the underlying principles behind each question type, develop efficient time-management strategies, and build the resilience needed to perform under exam conditions. Every child who walks through our doors receives a free diagnostic assessment so we can identify their strengths and target their weaknesses from day one.

Whether your child is a strong student aiming for a top score or needs focused support to bridge gaps, our structured programme adapts to meet them where they are. We have helped students from over 40 primary schools across Slough, Langley, Colnbrook, Iver, and the surrounding areas achieve grammar school places.

What Parents Say

"My daughter was struggling with verbal reasoning and I was worried she wouldn't be ready in time. Think Smart identified exactly where the gaps were and worked on them systematically. She got into Langley Grammar, her first choice. I cannot recommend them enough."

"We started in Year 4 and the progress was incredible. The mock exams were especially helpful because my son knew exactly what to expect on the day. He scored in the top 5% in the GL Assessment. Thank you, Think Smart!"

Frequently Asked Questions About 11+ Tuition

We recommend starting preparation in Year 4, roughly 12 to 18 months before the exam date. This gives your child enough time to build a solid foundation across all four subjects without feeling rushed. However, we do accept students who start later, our intensive programmes in Year 5 can still make a significant difference, especially for children who are already performing well at school.
Our Slough centre focuses primarily on the GL Assessment, which is the exam board used by grammar schools in the Buckinghamshire and Slough consortium. We also cover CEM (Durham University) for families targeting grammar schools outside the local area. Our materials and mock exams are aligned to both formats so your child is fully prepared regardless of which schools they apply to.
Over the past decade, our students have secured more than 1,000 grammar school places across schools including Slough Grammar, Herschel Grammar, Langley Grammar, Upton Court Grammar, and schools in the Buckinghamshire consortium. In recent years, over 85% of our fully enrolled 11+ students received at least one grammar school offer.
Our 11+ classes have a maximum of 8 students per group. We keep groups deliberately small so that every child receives individual attention, and tutors can identify and address specific weaknesses. We also offer 1-to-1 sessions for students who need more targeted support or who prefer a private setting.
Yes. We run termly mock exams under timed, exam-hall conditions so students experience the pressure of the real test. After each mock, parents receive a detailed breakdown of marks by subject and topic, along with specific recommendations. We also run an intensive mock exam series in the summer before the September test date.
Our programme covers all four core 11+ subjects: Maths, English, Verbal Reasoning, and Non-Verbal Reasoning. Each subject is taught as a dedicated session, not bundled together. This means your child gets focused, in-depth tuition on each area rather than surface-level coverage of everything in a single lesson.
