Open toolWhy These Tools Work
Most exam prep advice is generic. "Do more past papers." "Make a revision timetable." "Identify your weak topics." Good advice, but vague — and vague advice does not change grades. What changes grades is specificity.
They give specific, actionable feedback
The grade predictors do not just tell you "you need to revise more". They tell you that you scored 48/80 on Paper 1 and 34/80 on Paper 2 — so Paper 2 is where the grade is hiding. The 11+ diagnostic does the same across Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning, Maths and English. That specificity is the difference between a revision plan that works and one that does not.
They reflect real exam conditions
The grade boundaries are based on real recent AQA data. The 11+ questions are modelled on the GL and CEM papers used by Buckinghamshire, Slough and surrounding grammar schools. The revision timetable builder uses the same spacing principles our tutors apply in lessons. This is not generic advice pulled from a textbook — it is the approach we use with our own students.
They are built by working tutors, not software companies
Our tutors teach 11+, GCSE and A-Level every week in Slough and High Wycombe. They know where students lose marks. They know which topics examiners trip students up on. That knowledge is baked into every tool on this page — the weightings, the content breakdown, the feedback. It is the closest thing to having a tutor in the room with you, without actually booking one.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why are these tools free?
Two reasons. First, we believe every child deserves access to quality exam prep — not just those whose parents can afford private tuition. Second, students who use these tools and find them useful sometimes go on to book lessons with us. That is how we fund the work.
Do I need to sign up or pay?
No. Every tool on this page is free to use without an account. Some tools (like the 11+ assessment) ask for an email at the end if you want a detailed PDF report — but you see your result either way. We never sell your details.
Which exam boards do the tools cover?
The grade predictors use AQA specifications (Maths, English Language, Combined Science, A-Level sciences) as the default reference because AQA is the most common board in schools around Slough, High Wycombe and surrounding areas. The A-Level Maths calculator works for AQA, Edexcel and OCR because all three use the same 3-paper structure and similar boundaries. Past papers cover AQA and Edexcel.
How accurate are the grade predictors?
They are revision tools, not official results. Grade boundaries shift each exam session — sometimes by 5 or more marks. The predictors use typical recent boundaries and are best used to compare your scores between papers or topics (your strong and weak areas) rather than as a precise forecast. For a detailed assessment, book a free 30-minute diagnostic at one of our centres.
Can I use these tools if I am not a Think Smart Academy student?
Yes, absolutely. These tools are free for anyone — whether you are in Slough, High Wycombe, the rest of the UK, or anywhere else. They were built by our tutors but are designed to be useful on their own.
Do you have tools for other subjects or exam boards?
The grade predictors currently cover the most-entered GCSE and A-Level subjects for AQA (the most common board in Slough, High Wycombe and surrounding areas). A-Level Maths works for Edexcel and OCR as the structure is identical. If you sit a board or subject we do not yet cover, get in touch and we will prioritise it for the next update — we add tools based on what parents and students actually ask for.
